Features

COVID-19 has created new conditions for police violence against low-income communities of color that will impact those who are most vulnerable to criminalization and/or infection the most.

JC is calling on NYers to CopWatch while practicing social distancing.

Let us know what safety means to you? What does it mean to be safe, when and where do we need safety, and how do we get there? The stories we collect will help us reflect on what true safety looks like and guide the Justice Committee’s work to build strong communities in which we love and protect each other, especially our most vulnerable community members.

We need your help to support survivors of police violence and families whose loved ones were killed by police. There are many ways to help ranging from sharing social media post and phone banking, generating content and creating materials, and info graphics, co-facilitating meeting and trainings, providing direct emotional, legal, and case support, escorting families to and from meetings, event and actions and so much more. Know Your Rights.jpg

Are you prepared to assert your rights when police approach you? Are you sure?

If you know your rights, you will know when they are being violated. Knowing your rights may not keep you from getting arrested, harassed or abused by police, but it can help you later in court, or if you decide to file a law suit. Make sure to tell your lawyer when your rights are violated.
