Local officials gathered today at One Police Plaza calling on the firing of an NYPD lieutenant for the excessive force death of Allan Feliz. And it comes just weeks after the NYPD Trial Commissioner found Jonathan Rivera guilty of excessive force and assault, and recommended he be fired. The final decision will ultimately go to Commissioner Jessica Tisch. We are calling on her to prove she is serious about calling up the nypd and is not just another puppet commissioner of the mayor to do this, Commissioner Tisch must fire Lieutenant Rivera before the end of this month without access to his pension or a good guy letter. Rivera was among several officers who pulled Feliz over for not wearing a seat belt. The encounter escalated when officers found open warrants and Feliz tried to take off. Rivera pulled his weapon and shot Feliz in the chest, killing him. We reached out to the NYPD for comment, but have yet to hear back.
